well we really can't take the dow off the picture and it does affect the PSEi's movement, so I guess it would be better to wait for the dow to reverse if you are in for the long term.

Even if the local market seemed resilient, it's pretty obvious that it couldn't sustain any up move whenever there's bad news from the US.

We can take advantage of the rallies though

I think its already conventional wisdom that local stocks just follows foreign stocks (specifically the US). Forget the stock market, it will be terribly difficult to make any serious money in it with this environment. Look into FX markets there is more action there.

hi yeahbah, thanks for the input. i've always been told that there's no decoupling in financial markets but with the recent sideways movement i've entertainined the possibility of the PSEi bottoming before the US indices. and that's when i woke up. hehe.

Just be sure to be quick with FX. It's much more volatile than stocks. You could make money quickly but lose it just as quickly.

DJIA up by 936 points! It's the 5th biggest gain in terms of percentage. But volume isn't as heavy as I thought.
