Absolute Traders conducted its fifth Basic Technical Analysis Seminar in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City.
Besides students from Cebu City, the three-day seminar also pulled in attendees from other nearby provinces of Iloilo and Dumaguete. The students are now officially members of the Absolute Traders Cebu Batch 5.
Back on the whiteboard was Master Trader and AT instructor Danny Go, who brilliantly lectured the difficult concepts of Technical Analysis and shared his experiences in the market to the newbie group. Accompanying him was Mike Macainag, a broker and an Absolute Traders member who taught a Cebu batch for the first time.
As per the usual practice on the second day of the seminar, a Chart Analysis Forum (CAF) was held at the exotic Moon Café in Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Members of the previous Cebu batches attended the fourth CAF for AT Cebu students with the new students as honorary attendees.
Over dinner, the members took a look into at charts of the local and US markets to get a feel of the prevailing sentiment.
Charts of the individual stocks were also analyzed to spot possible movers.
The event was also graced by the presence of Prof. Alexander Gilles, the first Filipino Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a philanthropist.
Prof. Gilles, a noted faculty member of the University of Asia and Pacific (UA&P) and the De La Salle University (DLSU), revealed to the group his vision of a creating the perfect venue for traders in the country. A place where market players can interact, share ideas and impart knowledge while at the same time monitor global financial markets on big screen LCD-TVs and monitors. This hi-tech investor’s lounge will be opened in Cebu with other locations in other parts of the country opening in the near future. Absolute Traders, in its mission to educate the public about the financial markets, welcomed Prof. Gilles’ project. When in place, the venue will actually help develop market awareness among Filipinos and help the AT community grow.
In a period of global financial crisis and a looming US recession, Absolute Traders boldly carries on its task of educating and building a community of successful traders in the country one batch at a time.
