An Accident That Had to Happen

I’m so pleased with how things have turned out for Absolute Traders since we started back in 2005. I never planned to be a teacher, much less one who spreads the good word of technical analysis. But as it happened on that fateful night of June 2005, I met three young stock investors who all told me their sad stories of how they put their money into the market and were stuck with a loss of anywhere between 30 to 50%. All I could think of at that moment was that these people needed help. After conferring with my good friend, Danny Go, we decided to take up the challenge and teach these floundering traders the beauty, art and science of technical analysis. Back then, we hoped that what the three would learn from us would help them, and others as well, in preserving their capital and spotting opportunities in the market.

Lo and behold, two years and 18 batches later, we now have a community of around 500 technicians, and still counting. We were not out to create our own army. We also have no plans of creating our own cult. We were brought together, almost serendipitously, by our common interest: the stock market and technical analysis.

We believe that technical analysis is not rocket science that only geniuses can comprehend. It is something that investors with even the most basic knowledge of trading can readily use for themselves. And they don’t even have to use any kind of guesswork. That is why our event’s title is Absolute Change: An Investor’s Paradigm Shift in the Financial Markets. In order for one to trade, they don’t need to dwell too much on the financial numbers, they just need to know when is the proper time to enter and to exit.

We don’t profess to be the best teachers, or even the best traders. But we stick to applying the tenets of technical analysis properly and to exercise discipline by staying focused on our trading direction. All we ask from our students is to do the same.

The one thing that I noticed since Day One was that despite all the various changes that we have experienced, God has been with us, guiding us patiently. We dedicate all of our efforts to You. This all would not be possible without Your help.
To the members of the Absolute Traders community, we dedicate this official launch to you also. I am proud to have been your teacher, and most of all, your friend.
